Barcelona-based studio  PPT Interiorismo  complete the vibrant yet casual interior design for new  Madrid  restaurant, Cabrón.  

Located in the Salamanca neighbourhood, the Mexican parrilla serves tacos, aguachiles, tostadas and ceviche, alongside flame grilled meats, fish and vegetables. Set over two floors, the interior design nods to Mexican culture, the ‘authentic’ spot featuring large natural cacti, ethnic fabrics and a spirited colour palette.

Contrasting the predominantly orange hue, the bar is covered with bright ceramic tiles in Klein blue and marked and illuminated by a perimeter LED. An assortment of seating from high and low chairs, to stools and benches ensure comfort to guests while adding a varied aspect to the design. Circular tables have been designed with a pattern of large blue and white stripes, while the square tables are marbled in black.  

In the main dining room, custom-made posters by artist Tato Reppeto hang on the wall, his colourful and daring motifs harking to the most villainous Mexico, and represented by many graphic clichés. Downstairs in the basement, to compensate for the lack of natural light, rough, grey walls emphasise the power of the warmer shade of orange, and a methacrylate bar shines bright.

Tato Reppeto’s artwork appears again in the bathrooms, his large mural depicting a cheetah alebrije and other abstract shapes sharing the space with a neon sign with the bold phrase “cabrón el que lo lea” (bastard who reads it) on a large, floor-to-ceiling mirror, as well as a strong monochrome pink tone.

A fun spot to eat authentic Mexican fare and sip on exquisite cocktails, Cabrón is sure to delight fans of fire-forward food in the upmarket Salamanca district of the Spanish capital.
