WORKING PROGRESS - UNOU Ice Cream & Gelato

Studio Equator’s new Experiential Ice Cream & Gelato Spatial and Branding Design is under construction. We were commissioned to come up with an entire strategy for a new Ice Cream & Gelato Brand and Interior Design.

We came with the name “UNOU” incorporating the word “UNO” Italian for number one (which reflects the client’s commitment to quality) and the letter “U” (which represents you, our customer). Together they form a new tongue in cheek word pronounced “you know” or UNOU meaning you are number one.

The letters when applied in capitals become structurally sound and symmetrically sound, like marks like TOYOTA, etc. The heritage Italian Images are contrasted with colourful graffiti and popular iconography making for a brand with an ability to speak to a broader audience. At the same time the brand and fit-out remain fun, open with a dash of coolness. The references to the traditional Ice Cream Parlour & Edgy Industrial nature of the building, add to that the Italian pride with details make for a memorable experience.

The shop is located in Seaford in the coast of Melbourne, a short drive from Mordialloc and half way to the Mornington Peninsula. The newly renovated Seaford Pier is literally across the road, offering amazing hidden picturesque beaches ready to be enjoyed.
